Poolrooms
Dive.

You wake up waist-deep in warm water. White tiles in every direction, fluorescent lights, no exit. Turn the valves, drain the pools, find the drain, and drop one level deeper. Five levels, from a bright shallow end to pitch-black pools where the lifeguards move when you look away.

Objective

On every level, find and turn all the red valves (hold E). Each valve lowers the water. After the last one the power trips and the drain in the deep end opens. Reach it to escape to the next level. Beat a level to unlock the next one, and replay any level you've reached from the level menu.

  • 1 · The Shallow End (very easy): 2 valves, bright lights, 5 health.
  • 2 · Lap Pool: 3 valves, a ringing payphone, lights that go out one by one.
  • 3 · The Deep End: 5 valves, two phones, hands in the water, footprints that follow you.
  • 4 · Night Swim: total darkness and lifeguards that move when you're not looking.
  • 5 · The Drain (extremely hard): 6 valves, two swimmers, four lifeguards, rising water, one hit kills.

Controls

  • WASD: move. Mouse: look (click the game to lock the mouse).
  • Shift: sprint (not while swimming).
  • Hold E: turn a valve. F: flashlight.
  • Q: blow your whistle. Space: jump.
  • P / Esc: pause.
  • Touch: left thumb moves, drag on the right to look, and use the HOLD E, LIGHT, RUN, JUMP and WHISTLE buttons.

The swimmer

  • It only moves through deep water, and it hunts you when you're in deep water too.
  • It bites. Three bites and it drags you under.
  • After a bite it backs off for a few seconds. Use that time to get out.
  • In the final run it stops needing water.
  • Lifeguards (levels 4–5) only move when you can't see them. In the dark, your flashlight is your eyes.
  • If a payphone rings… you don't have to answer it.

Ducks, whistle and stars

  • Rubber ducks: three are hidden on every level, fifteen in all. Two are on the walkways. One floats in a pool, so you have to get close to the water for it.
  • Whistle (Q): the swimmer backs off and the lifeguards freeze for a few seconds. You start with one (two on level 1). Levels 2 to 5 have more lying on the walkways.
  • Flippers: on levels 2 to 5. Pick them up and you swim a lot faster.
  • Beach ball: near the start. Walk into it to kick it. Don't let it float near the swimmer.
  • Three stars: one for escaping, one for never getting bitten or grabbed, one for finding all three ducks. The level menu keeps your best.

Useful strategy

  • Walk around the pools whenever you can. Swimming is slow.
  • Batteries float on the walkways. The flashlight matters most at the end.
  • Turning a valve is loud. Look around before you start.
  • Find the pool with the DRAIN grate early. That is where the final run ends.
  • Save a whistle for the final run. It stops the crawler for a moment.
